LINGUIST'S SOFTWARE

SEMITIC TRANSLITERATOR

20 % DISCOUNT OFFER

Linguist's Software (Edmonds, WA, U.S.A.) is pleased to offer a special 20% discount to MEMbers of Middle East Medievalists on the newly released Unicode versions of Semitic Transliterator fonts.

Produced by Linguist's Software in Edmonds, Washington, USA. The first commercial Unicode-encoded OpenType font for transliterating Semitic languages (Arabic, Aramaic, Hebrew and Persian). Transliterate Semitic languages plus Greek and Coptic using Unicode-encoded fonts, which provide perfect positioning of all accented letters needed in the 21 transliteration methods supported by the fonts. This product is available in six typestyles and includes two keyboard layouts. Users who own Microsoft Word 2003 can benefit from the OpenType layout features in the fonts for the most logical, intuitive input possible: letter, accent, accent. Word 2003 [Windows] will automatically build up the accented letter as you type. Users of all other Unicode-aware applications can use the Deadkey keyboard layout for easy typing of accented letters using deadkey input. Cross-platform compatible (Ideally suited for Windows XP and Macintosh OSX 10.2+) Suitable for use in academic publications.

The transliteration fonts include separate composite forms of each letter with each diacritic combination so that every letter shape and diacritic is perfectly positioned. (See Samples.) The fonts include the Latin 1 and Extended Latin character sets providing English and other western languages such as French and German. This allows your entire project to be typed in the same typestyle. Semitic Transliterator in Unicode is available in six typestyles: Times®-, Helvetica®-, Garamond-, Courier®-, Palatino®, and Chancery-styles. All typestyles are provided in plain, bold, italic, and bold-italic weights, except for TranslitChanU, which is plain only. Semitic Transliterator in Unicode for Windows includes two keyboard layouts that provide four-characters-per-key input (instead of the normal two-characters-per-key) in Windows XP, Windows 2000 and Windows NT4. The keyboards are phonetic, based on the US keyboard, and allow easy input of all transliteration characters and symbols covered by the fonts.

For a complete description of Semitic Transliterator in Unicode for Windows and samples of all the different typestyles in which it is available see
