In an effort to further promote scholarly activities and collaboration within the field of Medieval Studies in general and the pre-modern Middle East in particular, Middle East Medievalists officially sponsors academic panels and workshops at such scholarly venues as the annual meeting of the Middle East Studies Association (MESA) and the International Congress of Medieval Studies at Kalamazoo, MI, U.S.A. As MEM grows, we hope to be able to provide subsidies for workshops in North America and elsewhere.
