MEM,
founded in 1989, is a professional non-profit association of scholars and
organizations interested in the Islamic lands of the Middle East during the medieval period (defined roughly as
500-1500 C.E.). MEM's main objectives are to encourage scholarship on the
medieval Middle East and to foster lines of communication among its
members.
Al-‘Usur
al-Wusta publishes brief articles,
written in non-technical language, on a variety of subjects, as well as
scholar profiles of outstanding scholars of medieval Middle Eastern
studies from the Middle East, summaries of current members' research and
publications, and reviews of books published in Middle Eastern languages
(Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Turkish) -- being, in many cases, the only
western-language periodical that reviews such publications.
We
believe you will find Al-‘Usur al-Wusta to be an excellent and
inexpensive source of current information on developments in the many
fields related to the study of the medieval Middle East and Islamic world, expressed in a non-technical
way. It is suitable for undergraduate and graduate students, professional
academics, and serious lay readers with an interest in the history,
literatures, languages, religions, archaeology, and thought of the
medieval Middle East. We invite your institutional library to subscribe
by downloading the MEMbership application form.
If your institution requires an invoice, we would gladly send you one at
